Modern teaching tools

The Medical University of Silesia in Katowice uses a wide range of tools for teaching remotely. The pandemic reality has multiplied the need to use, constantly modernize and optimize remote learning platforms. Currently, our teachers actively give classes using the systems, where materials are prepared in the form of interactive multimedia presentations, and students' knowledge is verified using systems of tests, credits, virtual live meetings, as well as other available means.
Each student has an individual account with access to all remote learning tools, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year from anywhere in the world. Both students and faculty use a whole range of devices allowing them to navigate in the online world, including computers, tablets, and mobile phones. Our solutions eliminate all barriers to the availability of teaching materials, and the user can plan his path of acquiring knowledge depending on one’s needs.

Activities supporting the teaching process also include equipping new computer rooms, exam rooms with tablets, continuous development of speed and reliability of the university computer, as well as the ongoing process of training both students and teachers in the use of modern tools. This infrastructure allows for live image and sound transmission in remote systems, teamwork, the use of resources for joint projects, as well as independent work in designated areas of remote systems.

Systems designed with an emphasis on intuitiveness, simplicity of operation, and above all, reliability and speed, are used by students for taking electronic tests and exams. Tests and exams take place in computer rooms and rooms equipped with tablets. The automatically generated result, the ability to freely mix questions and answers are just some of the advantages that significantly increase the popularity of using this method of verifying the knowledge of our students.
The analysis of needs and the experience gained allowed us to start working on a modern examination system that would also facilitate tests and exams in a traditional paper form. The designed system that is currently implemented significantly shortens the time of checking exam sheets along with generating results and post-examination statistics. The presentation of the results is entirely moved to the online sphere, where the student, after logging in with an individual login and password, can constantly monitor one’s achievements in the exam session, having a complete set of information in one available resource.
