58 studentów z różnych stron świata przyleciało do Katowic, by dołączyć do Społeczności Akademickiej Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach i spełnić swoje marzenie o byciu lekarzem. Studenci programu anglojęzycznego, najbliższych sześć lat spędzą na Wydziale Nauk Medycznych w Katowicach.
– Nasi studenci są już po pierwszym tygodniu zajęć. Myślę, że są zadowoleni zwłaszcza, że program anglojęzyczny, jaki oferuje nasza Uczelnia cieszy się bardzo dobrą opinią wśród studentów i absolwentów, gwarantując wysoką jakość kształcenia. Swoją strukturą jest on mocno zbliżony do programu amerykańskiego, dzięki czemu pozytywnie przeszliśmy akredytację USA, a nasi studenci – oczywiście po zdaniu odpowiednich egzaminów – mają prawo wykonywania zawodu również w Stanach Zjednoczonych – powiedział prof. dr hab. n. med. Tomasz Francuz, dziekan Wydziału Nauk Medycznych w Katowicach. – W ramach programu nasi studenci mogą odbywać tzw. rotacje kliniczne, również poza granicami Polski w afiliowanych przez nas szpitalach. Obecnie mamy kilkanaście takich placówek, to m.in. szpitale w USA, Izraelu i Norwegii. Dzięki temu większość studentów może odbywać rotacje kliniczne w krajach, z których pochodzi – dodał prof. Francuz
Studenci, którzy przylecieli do Polski pochodzą m.in. z Izraela, Wielkiej Brytanii, Indii, Norwegii, Austrii i Włoch . Wśród nich jest także pochodzący z Izraela Ido Goldstein: – Jestem podekscytowany tym, że mogą tu być i spełnić swoje marzenie. Chcę być w przyszłości lekarzem i wierzę, że te studia mi to umożliwią. Wybrałem program Śląskiego Uniwersytetu Medycznego w Katowicach ponieważ słyszałem o nim wiele dobrego. Moi znajomi, którzy przylecieli tu w ubiegłym roku też są zadowoleni – powiedział Ido Goldstein, który dodał: – Dużym plusem jest też to, że będę mógł odbyć swoją rotację kliniczną w Izraelu – kraju, który jest moim domem i w którym chcę w przyszłości pracować. Cieszę się też, że trafiłem do takiej grupy. Myślę, że poznam tu wielu przyjaciół i szczerze, nie mogę doczekać się kolejnych zajęć.
W spotkaniu, które odbyło się w czwartek, 9 grudnia, uczestniczył także prof. dr hab. n. med. Grzegorz Helbig, prodziekan WNMK oraz studentki:

Z myślą o naszych gościach z zagranicy studenci z SGA-English Division SUM przygotowali wiele cennych wskazówek.
58 students from different parts of the world have flown in to Katowice to join the Academic Community of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice and fulfil their dream of being a doctor. As part of the English-language programme, the students will spend the next six years at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice.
"Our students already finished the first week of classes. I think they are satisfied, especially because the programme our University offers has a very good reputation among many students and, above all, guarantees high quality education. Its structure is very similar to that of the US programme, as a result of which we have passed the US accreditation and our students – after passing the relevant examinations, of course – can perform the profession in USA as well," said Prof. Tomasz Francuz, MD, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice. "As part of the programme, our students can undertake so-called clinical rotations, i.e. they can also have classes outside Poland in hospitals affiliated with us. Currently, we have over a dozen such facilities, including hospitals in the US, Israel and Norway. Students can also do such clinical rotations in their countries of origin," added Prof. Francuz.
The students who have arrived in Poland come from the UK, India, Norway, Austria and Italy, among others. Among them is also Ido Goldstein, who comes from Israel: "I am excited to be here and to be able to fulfil my dream. I want to be a doctor in the future and I believe that these studies will enable me to do that. I chose the programme at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice because I have heard great things about it. My friends who arrived here last year are also happy". Said Ido Goldstein, who added: "It is also a big plus for me that I will be able to do my clinical rotation in Israel – the country that is my home and where I want to work in the future. I'm also happy to have ended up in such a group. I think I'll make a lot of friends here and honestly, I'm looking forward to my next class."
The meeting, which took place on Thursday 9 December, was also attended by Prof Dr Grzegorz Helbig, Vice Dean of the WNMK, and female students:
