We would like to inform you that the competition within the framework of the 3rd edition of the "Student Scientific Circles Create Innovations" program has been decided. The Minister of Education and Science has qualified for funding 174 projects for a total amount of PLN 9,762,184.99. The winners were selected from among 308 applications submitted to the competition.

PROJECT: "Implementation in the Motek Caren system with virtual reality of the existing motor rehabilitation program for people with Down syndrome in order to increase its effectiveness".

  • CO-FINANCED FROM THE STATE BUDGET
  • AS PART OF THE PROGRAM "STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLES CREATE INNOVATIONS"
  • GRANT VALUE: 45 000.00 PLN
  • TOTAL VALUE OF THE PROJECT: 45 000,00 PLN

The organizational unit implementing the task is the Student Scientific Circle at the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation.

The main objective of the project is to continue the study of motor rehabilitation of patients with Down syndrome. In the first stage, the project authors conducted a thorough review of the literature available in online medical databases, resulting in the publication of a systematic review. The data collected suggest that treadmill training has many benefits for people with Down syndrome. These include improvements in motor, balance or gait parameters, but also improvements in mental fitness and executive function. In addition, only a few studies have been found on the use of virtual reality (VR) in motor rehabilitation in this patient population.

PROJECT: "Comparison of allelic differences of DRD2 and SLC6A3 gene polymorphisms in Parkinson's disease patients with different time of onset of levodependent dyskinesias using Sanger sequencing."

  • GRANT VALUE: 44 000.00 PLN
  • TOTAL VALUE OF THE PROJECT: 44 000,00 PLN

The organizational unit carrying out the task is the Student Scientific Circle at the Department of Histology and Cell Pathology.

The aim of the project is to determine the effect of six selected cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-17A, IL-22, IFN-γ, TNF-α) on miRNA expression in cardiomyocytes derived from induced pluripotent stem cells.

PROJECT: "Identification of microorganisms present on the electrode of continuous glycemic monitoring (CGM) sensors and cannulas of infusion sets of personal insulin pumps in children with type 1 diabetes".

  • WAS CO-FINANCED FROM THE STATE BUDGET
  • UNDER THE PROGRAM "STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLES CREATE INNOVATIONS"
  • GRANT VALUE: 22,113.00 PLN
  • TOTAL VALUE OF THE PROJECT: 22,113.00 PLN

The organizational unit carrying out the task is the Student Scientific Circle of Pediatric Diabetology.

The aim of the study is to detail the microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) colonizing the insertions of personal insulin pump infusion sets and continuous glycemic measurement sensors in children with type 1 diabetes depending on:

  •     age and sex of the patient,
  •     the duration of diabetes,
  •     glycated hemoglobin values,
  •     the place where the swab is taken,
  •     the circumstances of the change of the injection (planned or due to complications),
  •     the visual condition of the swab collection site

PROJECT: "Oxytocin receptor polymorphism and its role in preterm labor".

  • CO-FINANCED FROM THE STATE BUDGET
  • UNDER THE PROGRAM "STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLES CREATE INNOVATIONS"
  • GRANT VALUE: 60 000.00 PLN
  • TOTAL VALUE OF THE PROJECT: 60 000.00 PLN

The organizational unit carrying out the task is the Student Scientific Circle at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics.

The aim of the project is to evaluate the polymorphism of the oxytocin receptor in the Polish population with the use of molecular techniques and an attempt to identify common genetic variants predisposing to the occurrence of preterm labor in patients at the Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecology Oncology of the Prof. K. Gibinski University Clinical Center of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice.

PROJECT: "The use of intranasally administered oxytocin in the treatment of sexual interest/arousal disorders in women".

  • CO-FINANCED FROM THE STATE BUDGET
  • AS PART OF THE "STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLES CREATE INNOVATIONS" PROGRAM
  • GRANT VALUE: 70 000.00 PLN
  • TOTAL VALUE OF THE PROJECT: 70 000,00 PLN

The organizational unit implementing the task is the Student Scientific Circle at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Sexology Circle.

The aim of the project is to evaluate oxytocin levels in men and women who have been in a stable relationship for at least 12 months. Based on it, it will also be possible to show differences in oxytocin levels in healthy women and those diagnosed with sexual disorders such as lack of sexual desire, lack of arousal and painful intercourse.

PROJECT: "Clinical, biochemical and hormonal characteristics of young women with polycystic ovary syndrome diagnosed in their teenage years."

  • SUBSIDIZED FROM THE STATE BUDGET
  • UNDER THE PROGRAM "STUDENT SCIENTIFIC CIRCLES CREATE INNOVATIONS"
  • GRANT VALUE: 54 000.00 PLN
  • TOTAL VALUE OF THE PROJECT: 54 000,00 PLN

The organizational unit carrying out the task is the Student Scientific Circle at the Department of Pediatrics.

The aim of the project is the clinical, biochemical and hormonal characterization of young women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) diagnosed in their teenage years. Another goal will be to identify adolescent PCOS phenotypes with the highest risk of developing metabolic diseases and endocrine disorders in adulthood.

The aim of the project is to demonstrate in people with schizophrenia a higher concentration of cfDNA specific for neurons of the cerebral cortex compared to people without mental disorders. This will indicate the presence of neurodegenerative processes within brain structures that may be associated with the presence of the disease process. An integral part of the project is the creation of a questionnaire on the patient's medical history and an assessment of the mental state on the day the material for cf-DNA determination was collected. The study will be performed on a group of 50 schizophrenic patients and 50 healthy volunteers.
