Dietitians and psychodietitians from the Faculty of Public Health at the Silesian Medical University have written a book entitled Dietary Management in Paediatrics. This is an extremely important position especially in the era of the obesity epidemic; children at every stage of development need specific nutrients and nutrients to grow properly and gain strength.

- Eating habits established in childhood stay with us for life," says Dr Agnieszka Białek-Dratwa, a dietician and one of the co-authors of the book, along with Dr Karolina Krupa - Kotara and Prof Elżbieta Szczepańska.

As Dr Białek-Dratwa explains, in paediatrics a very strict diet is often required as one of the most important forms of treatment. - Coeliac disease, phenylketonuria, food allergies are just examples of diseases associated with specific dietary restrictions.

- In the individual chapters, we discuss the principles of nutrition in diseases in which diet is one of the essential elements of therapy. And everything is based on the latest medical, dietary knowledge using Evidence Based Medicine. The handbook includes information on, among other things.

The handbook includes information on motivation and interviewing paediatric patients and their parents, dietary management of allergies, including cow's milk protein allergy, diet in coeliac disease, phenylketonuria, diabetes mellitus t.1, arterial hypertension, PCOS, how to deal with children.
