On June 5-7, 2023, the SIMCHAELLENGE 2023 National Medical Simulation Competition was held in Rzeszow. Our University was represented by the ODR ("Last Resort") team, which won this year's SUMWARS competition. It consisted of five students: Kinga Kocur (WNMK), Jakub Jurkiewicz (WNMK), Antonina Jedynak (WNMK), Jan Herzyk (WNMK) Oskar Fogiel (WNMZ). Tasks included 6 simulation stations: stabilization in the ED of a hit cyclist, diagnosis of child abuse syndrome in a boy whose father brought him to the ED with anaphylactic shock, withdrawal of CPR from a patient with a notarized statement and communication of death to his family, stabilization of a psychiatric condition in a patient with CHAD in an episode of mania, and performance of electrical cardioversion in an unstable patient with tachycardia. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a workshop on battlefield medicine organized in cooperation with the Rzeszow Police Department, as well as an ultrasound workshop and working with a virtual patient.

On behalf of the team, we would like to thank the people who helped prepare the students for the competition by devoting their free time: Dr. Michal Starosolsky, Dr. Anna Suchojad, Dr. Jadwiga Siemiek-Miteli, Dr. Piotr Liberski, Dr. Jack Wawrzynek, and Medical Paramedic - Dawid Wilczek, who prepared the team from the beginning and supported them at every stage of the Medical Simulation competition. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to the Employees of the Simulation Center in Katowice and Zabrze, as well as to the Dean of WNMK, Prof. Tomasz Francuz, MD - for his favor and invaluable support in the team's preparations. Although our team did not manage to take a place on the podium, experiencing real clinical situations under simulation conditions is an invaluable educational value teaching how to work under time pressure, environment, talk to the patient and cooperate within the group. Congratulations!
