The 21st Prevention in Medicine Conference will be held on 22 November 2024. The Conference will be held in a hybrid format, allowing some participants to be present at the Conference venue in the Prof. W. Zahorski University Auditorium in Katowice-Ligota, there will also be an opportunity to follow the proceedings on the Internet, with direct online streaming. The JM Rector of the SUM, Prof. Tomasz Szczepański, has assumed Honorary Patronage of the Conference. The event is part of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 as part of the CITY-REGION-Academy strand.
The aim of the Conference is to promote the principles of health promotion and current guidelines for primary and secondary prevention of diseases from various fields of medicine. We will present recommendations of scientific societies and practical topics from everyday medical practice, and students and doctoral students will have the opportunity to present their research results in the field of disease prevention.
The conference will open with a Competitive Student and Doctoral Session in which students from STN circles will give oral presentations on health promotion and disease prevention. Papers shortlisted for the Student and Doctoral Poster Session will also be presented.
The Conference programme includes topics and issues in cardiovascular disease prevention, diabetology, psychiatry and infectious diseases. The topics of the Conference should be of interest to family doctors and specialists in other fields of medicine, as well as nurses, midwives, physiotherapists and students of various medical faculties.
The lecturers are experts from the Medical University of Silesia and invited guests experts from other academic centres.
