From 22 to 25 October, SUM representatives are on a study visit to Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Among the representatives are the Vice-Chancellor for Science and International Cooperation Prof. Katarzyna Mizia-Stec, the Vice-Chancellor for Students and Student Affairs Prof. Jerzy Stojko, representatives of the Dean's College of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice - Dean Prof. Tomasz Francuz, Vice-Deans Prof. Aneta Gawlik, Prof. Maciej Kaźmierski, and the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Public Health Prof. Grzegorz Dziubanek, as well as vascular surgeon and transplantologist - Dr Wojciech Wystrychowski, MD.
The delegation from SUM was received by representatives of the University Hospital and the Department of the Ministry of Health in Samarkand.
The topics of the session, theoretical and clinical workshops concern the development of various fields of medicine, including transplantology, cardiology, health organisation, paediatrics and toxicology - both in terms of scientific, teaching and treatment activities.
The visit is taking place on the basis of a cooperation agreement with the Medical University and the Samarkand Clinical Hospital, being a continuation of activities already undertaken. The result of the above cooperation is the performance of the first bone marrow transplant in Samarkand, inter-centre consultation activities, exchanges within the framework of the Erasmus Plus project, as well as joint scientific activities.
