The XC Congress of the Higher Medical Education Committee of the Parliament of Students of the Republic of Poland and the Doctoral Forum of Medical Universities was held at the Silesian Medical University in Katowice on April 21-23. The event was attended, among others, by representatives of the rectors' and deans' authorities of SUM. Representatives of students and doctoral students from more than a dozen universities from all over Poland also came to Katowice.
The XC Convention of KWSM&DFUM Katowice 2023 was organized by the SUM Student Government Council, the SUM Doctoral Student Government and the Silesian Medical University in Katowice.
I am glad that it is in the 75th year of our University's activity that such an important event is taking place within its walls," said Prof. Tomasz Szczepanski, MD, rector of SUM, during the opening of the event, who also added: - I believe that an interesting discussion awaits you, which will result in many pertinent insights. I am convinced that you, as well as all academics, are guided by one goal - to improve the quality of education.
Improving the quality of education was the main topic of the meeting. Its participants also discussed, among other things, the future of higher education and the role of creating new medical faculties. An important part of the meeting was also a summary of the conference "Modern medical education as a response to the health needs of society", organized by the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities. The event took place the day before at the building of the Piastów Śląskich Medical University in Wrocław. The conference was a prelude to the development of recommendations and a list of good practices that will allow the implementation of appropriate measures to ensure the quality of educational processes at medical faculties.
During the XC Congress of KWSM&DFUM Katowice 2023, the University of Rzeszow was also included as a member of KWSM.

The PSRP Higher Medical Education Committee is a nationwide representative of medical students. It brings together 12 student governments of member universities and 5 student governments of affiliated universities. The primary tasks of the PSRP are to represent the students of affiliated universities and to ensure that the quality of education is improved. The Commission performs its tasks through the Presidium and appointed representatives.
The Doctoral Forum of Medical Universities is an industry agreement established on July 22, 2017, created by the Doctoral Student Councils of universities affiliated with the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities and other units conducting studies in the area of medical sciences. The main goal of the organization is to represent the medical school doctoral student community by exchanging information, organizing scientific undertakings, and giving opinions and making proposals for legislation.
