The last six months have been a time of intensive changes for the SUM Library. In March of this year, the Control and Audit Department and the Recruitment and Benefits Department were moved to the building on Warszawska Street. As a result of these changes, library services have been reorganized in such a way that, despite the reduction in the Library's usable space, their full offer has been preserved as much as possible.
Currently in the building on Warszawska Street there are:
On the first floor:
- Secretariat and Library Management (overseeing the flow of information and documents in the Library, coordination of the functioning of the POL-on system in the University)
- Repository and Promotion of Open Science Department (running the SUM Repository, co-creating the Polish Medical Platform, promoting openness in science, documenting the history of the University and presenting it in the database of the Documentation Center of the History of Medicine and Pharmacy of Upper Silesia)
- The reading room, which is a unit of the Library Branch in Katowice-Ligota with reading rooms in Katowice and Bielsko-Biała (providing access to own collections and electronic resources, performing thematic compilations, training in search strategies).
On the second floor:
- Department of Collection Collection Collection and Development (purchase and development of library materials, purchase of electronic resources and tools for them, creation of a catalog and operation of the library system Aleph, administrative service of open publishing programs)

The website https://biblioteka.sum.edu.pl/dostarcza, created by librarians, provides reliable information about the Library's functioning, the offer of its services and its collections. The SUM Library's Katowice facility remains a user-friendly place and offering the latest information in the field of medicine and related sciences to the recipients seeking it.
The Main Library has been located at 14 Warszawska Street in Katowice since July 2012. Previously, for almost 50 years, it was located in the Rector's Office at 15 Poniatowskiego St. The other centers of the SUM library network operate in various cities in the region: in Katowice-Ligota, Sosnowiec, Zabrze, Zabrze-Rokitnica, and in October this year a center will begin to function in Bielsko-Biała.
