The Medical University of Silesia and the Silesian University of Technology are strengthening their cooperation. The Rectors of our friendly universities, Prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk and Prof. Tomasz Szczepański, MD, signed a letter of intent yesterday.
The authorities of both universities declared that they want even broader didactic cooperation. Its goal is to exchange experience, which is expected to lead to the development of the fields of study offered by both universities. Initiated by Prof. Marek Gzik (chairman of the SUM University Council and director of the European Center for Innovative Health Technologies), the cooperation is to involve scientific activities in scientific research projects, participation in scientific conferences, expert panels and joint scientific publications. The plans also include joint training, workshops and exercises, supporting each other in the organization of seminars, competitions or Open Days.
The two Universities will also cooperate on mutual contacts with experts dealing with cutting-edge medical trends.
- I am very pleased with the strengthening of our cooperation, which has been exemplary over the years, and will now expand the capabilities of both Universities in so many areas. This is a great added value," said Prof. Tomasz Szczepanski, rector of SUM. - It is also difficult to imagine a better initiator of tightening joint activities, as the person of Prof. Gzik uniquely connects SUM and Silesian University of Technology.
It is worth mentioning that the Center, headed by Prof. Gzik and launched in 2021. The center is equipped with world-class state-of-the-art equipment and software, and its highly specialized laboratories and studios are dedicated to advancing knowledge and developing technologies applicable to medicine, rehabilitation and sports.
