We are pleased to announce that the Ministry of Education and Science will fund three research topics submitted within the framework of the Ministry's program entitled Implementation PhD 2023 - 7th edition.
Among the Medical Universities, our University has submitted the largest number of applications - 8, of which three have been approved by MEiN, and another four are on the reserve list.

Research topics implemented at SUM within the framework of the 2023 Implementation PhD program - 7th edition:
- Evaluation of selected cardiac structures and functions in transthoracic echocardiography using artificial intelligence methods - application of cardiac potential in internal medicine practice.
Supervisor: prof. dr hab. n med. Katarzyna Mizia-Stec - Diagnostics of keratitis using a computer application.
Supervisor: prof. dr hab. n med. Edward Wylęgała - Influence of the precision of reproducing the patient's therapeutic position on the severity of radiation reactions during proton radiotherapy of tumors of the head and neck region.
Supervisor: Iwona Gisterek-Grocholska, MD, PhD.
The subject of the program is the creation of conditions for the development of cooperation between the entities of the system of higher education and science with the socio-economic environment, carried out within the framework of doctoral schools and involving the training of doctoral students in cooperation with entrepreneurs or other entities employing them, which will result in the implementation of the results of scientific activity carried out by doctoral students at these entities.
A prerequisite for the implementation of the Implementation Doctorates is that the potential candidate begins his/her training at the Doctoral School, which is done by being enrolled in the list of doctoral students in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Recruitment to the Doctoral School of the Silesian Medical University, constituting Appendix No. 1 to Resolution No. 72/2023 of 21.12.2022.
