The world's most eminent transplantologist, Professor Robert Montgomery, will come to Katowice to take part in a conference whose partners include the Silesian Medical University and the SUM Clinical Hospital - Silesian Centre for Heart Diseases in Zabrze.
Your yes has power !- under this slogan, a nationwide Transplant Summit Poland conference will be held at the Silesian Museum in Katowice on 28 September 2023. The slogan accompanies a television campaign to raise public awareness of organ transplants in children. The conference is organised by the Jan Kanty Steczkowski BGK Foundation, the originator and organiser of the campaign - Your Yes Has Power! Partners include the Medical University of Silesia and the SUM Clinical Hospital - Silesian Centre for Heart Diseases in Zabrze, a leader in heart and lung transplants in adults and children, as well as Poltransplant.
A special guest at the event will be Professor Robert Montgomery, an American transplantologist, the originator and author of the world's first kidney and heart transplant from a genetically modified pig! Although Prof. Montgomery is himself a transplant recipient, he continues to give a second life to others. He is even one of the record holders ... of the Guinness Book of Records - in 2010, he led the world's largest simultaneous cross-kidney transplant involving 10 pairs in one day. This one of the world's best and most renowned transplantologists heads the transplant clinic and director of the Langone Hospital in New York City, where he created the largest transplant programme in the metropolis in just five years. It is worth mentioning that the professor is a world peace activist. He regularly visits Ukraine. He was in Lviv, where he trained surgeons there despite the war.
