By an order of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, dated 8 May 2023. Slawomir Mrowiec, MD, PhD, Head of the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice, was awarded the title of professor of medical and health sciences in the discipline of medical sciences!
Prof. Dr. Slawomir Mrowiec received his doctoral degree in medicine in 1997 on the basis of his dissertation "Evaluation of gastric emptying in conditions of high obstruction of the gastrointestinal tract treated with gastrointestinal or duodenal-intestinal anastomosis". He was awarded a postdoctoral degree in medical sciences in 2012 on the basis of the thesis entitled: "Effect of various methods of surgical reconstruction of the gastrointestinal tract on gastric motility and exocrine pancreatic function in patients undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy".
He has participated in a number of foreign scientific internships at, among others, Ohio State University (Department of Surgery Robert M. Zollinger, Columbus, USA), Centre De Chirurgie Digestive (Paris, France), Universita di Pisa (Dipartimento di Oncologia, Chirurgia Generale e Trapianti, Italy), Universitats Klinikum Heidelberg (Germany), General, Visceral and Transplantation Department of Surgery.
He is the director of training for doctors following a specialisation programme in general surgery and oncological surgery.
He is a specialist in general surgery (1996) and oncological surgery (2016).
He is a provincial consultant in oncological surgery.
He is a member of the Board of the Polish Society of Oncological Surgery.
The scientific output of Prof. Slawomir Mrowec, MD, PhD, consists of 171 original and review publications with a total Impact Factor of 167.996 and an MNiSW score of 4569.
