The editors of the journal Science and Business have awarded the title ‘Science and Business Leader 2024’ to the Silesian Medical University and the Rector of ŚUM Prof. Tomasz Szczepański for his achievements and effective management of the University in exceptionally difficult times.
- As a person who has been dealing with the issues of health care and management of such large institutions as Universities for years, I realise how much effort is required to keep them in good economic shape, especially as no money will ever be big enough, in any system in the world, to satisfy everyone's expectations,’ said the magazine's editor-in-chief Izabela Blimel, presenting the Rector with the honourable statuette.
The Rector of ŚUM, Prof. Tomasz Szczepański, thanking for the award, shared his experience of managing the University, but also as the person in charge of the Department of Paediatrics, Haematology and Paediatric Oncology of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze, ŚUM. - It can be said that I know the functioning of the system from all sides, and I also know how much professionalism and perseverance hospital directors and administrative staff have to show. Managing health care has always been, is and will always be a challenge,’ said the Rector of ŚUM.
