Hundreds of secondary school students interested in choosing medical professions were hosted today at the Centre for Didactics and Simulation of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice on the occasion of the 2nd International Congress on Quality of Education. Earlier, in the Witold Zahorski Auditorium, a meeting of the University Authorities, Chairpersons of the Quality of Education Sub-teams and members of the Quality of Education Sub-teams of our University was held.

During the meeting, the results of questionnaires were presented, analysing the procedures for evaluating the methods and forms of supporting students, doctoral students and employees in their scientific, social and professional development. The eight Chairs of the Sub-teams of all faculties summarised the results of the questionnaires for the period 2021/2022. The procedure evaluated the level of administrative support of the Rector's Office, the Dean's Office, as well as the Library, and opportunities for trips to national and international conferences.

 - This is a unique event where we combined two major events: The 75th anniversary of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice and the second edition of the International Congress on Quality of Education. I am delighted that we are meeting here among experts and specialists responsible for designing, creating and monitoring and analysing projects aimed at improving the quality of education. Our aim is to strive to implement interprofessional solutions. In short, this involves joint activities in the form of classes by, for example, medical analysts, doctors or dieticians. In turn, the goal is effective, individualised treatment, as the work of all specialists allows for a good diagnosis and treatment," said Professor Ewa Chodurek, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Sosnowiec and the Rector's plenipotentiary for Educational Quality at SUM.

For the high school students who visited the Centre, SUM students and lecturers prepared many attractions. Students could learn breast self-examination on phantoms, measure their sugar levels and check their body mass composition. As usual, the stand presenting SUM's achievements in the field of virtual medicine, including a virtual dentist's surgery, was a hit. There was also a healthy snack - apples.

Young people visited the Centre for Medical Didactics and Simulation, getting to know, among other things, the fast usg method, i.e. a quick usg performed in a life-threatening situation, and seeing how a real ambulance works and what equipment it has. The exhibition on the occasion of SUM's 75th anniversary - The Time Machine, depicting the University's development over the decades - was extremely popular. We hope that many of our guests will choose to study at the Silesian Medical University.
