On 18 November 2023, a ceremonial meeting of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU) was held at its headquarters at 17 Slawkowska Street in Krakow. The highlight of this unique event was the presentation of diplomas to new members of the PAU.
The decision to elect Professor Wylęgała as a correspondent member of the Fifth Medical Faculty of the PAU was made during a series of votes that took place from 2022. The final confirmation of this prestigious appointment took place at the PAU General Assembly. The Diploma of Corresponding Member was personally presented to Prof Wylęgala by the President of the PAU, Prof Jan Ostrowski. The ceremony was also attended by the Director of the Fifth Medical Faculty, Prof. Marek Sanak, and the Secretary of the PAU, Prof. Szczepan Biliński.
After the handing over ceremony, Prof. Aleksander Skotnicki presented a lecture entitled "Copernicus in Krakow and Copernicus to Copernicus".
