On June 22 this year, the University Committee on Quality of Education in the Medical Faculty (UKJKKL) held a meeting at the Rector's Office of the Medical University of Lodz.

On behalf of the Silesian Medical University, Prof. Aleksandra Kawczyk-Krupka, MD, participated in the meeting.

There were 11 representatives of the universities in Lodz, and the meeting was hosted by Prof. Piotr Kurnatowski - Deputy Chairman of UKJKKL. The gathered guests were welcomed by the Rector, Prof. Radzislaw Kordek.

The activities of UKJKKL are based on the Act of 27.07.2005. "Law on Higher Education" (i.e., Journal of Laws 2016, item 1842) and relevant regulations issued by the Minister of Health and the Minister of Science and Higher Education, as well as basic internal documents approved by the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities.

The UKJKKL is a body of the community of Academic Medical Universities, independent of state authorities, which aims to maintain the highest possible quality of education, taking into account the applicable Polish law and international standards and recommendations.

The UKJKKL is independent in its activities, but will seek cooperation with other institutions involved in educational quality assessment and accreditation.

The University Commission on Quality of Education in the Faculty of Medicine (UKJKKL) is the successor to the Accreditation Commission for Universities of Medicine (KAUM) established in 1997, which changed its name to the Accreditation Commission for Academic Universities of Medicine (KAAUM) in 2005 and to UKJKKL in 2018. This commission, established by the Conference of Rectors of Academic Medical Universities, is a body of the community of state academic universities educating students in the medical field, independent of state authorities, whose goal is to ensure that the highest possible quality of education is maintained, taking into account the current Polish law and international standards and recommendations.
