Meet the winners of the 23rd edition of the Science Awards. We have already written about the fact that Paweł Rajwa, MD, PhD, has been awarded the Science Prizes of "Polityka". They have just been officially awarded.
On 22 October, scholarships and awards were presented to a further fifteen people. - The 23rd edition of the programme closed with PLN 7 million in the hands of 377 talented young scientists,' reads a press release.
The group of laureates expanded last month, when fifteen finalists of this year's edition were selected. Now, five laureates have been selected from among them to receive scholarships from the Polityka Weekly Foundation. Appreciating the efforts and contribution to the development of Polish (and not only Polish) science of each of them, they were presented with scholarships of PLN 15 thousand. - The 'media' award is an interview with each of the laureates in the pages of our weekly magazine. The remaining ten finalists received awards of PLN 5 thousand each. - adds the editors.
We award prizes in five contractual categories: humanities, social sciences, sciences, technical sciences and life sciences. We define them as broadly as possible, and the entries are more and more interdisciplinary every year. Who is the laureate from the Silesian Medical University?
Paweł Rajwa, MD, 1991, from the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze (Silesian Medical University).
Paweł Rajwa works at the Department of Urology, where he specialises in oncological urology, particularly prostate cancer. He is co-author of more than 150 scientific papers. He is involved in several European committees and research groups, including the European Urological Society for prostate cancer, which brings together the most renowned young urologists in the field. He collaborates with more than 50 centres worldwide, focusing on improving the diagnosis and treatment outcomes of this disease, including personalisation of therapy and the so-called active surveillance method.
