The provincial qualifiers for the VIII National Police Rescue Competition in Qualified First Aid are behind us. The winners were police officers from the Municipal Police Station in Dąbrowa Górnicza. In the first week of June, they will represent the Silesian Police Garrison at the finals of the competition in Slupsk. The Silesian Medical University was a co-organizer of the event.
The Selection and Training Department of the Regional Police Headquarters in Katowice invited the Silesian Medical University in Katowice and the Provincial Ambulance Service in Katowice to cooperate in organizing the event. This was not the first joint initiative of police medics, instructors of the CAP Training Center and the Center for Medical Didactics and Simulation of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice.
-By virtue of the cooperation agreement between our University and the Silesian police, we are co-organizing these extremely important events, which have great educational value. This is a mutual benefit, as our students can also benefit from the knowledge of police officers and participate in various practical classes organized by them, which are always very popular,
says Prof. Jerzy Stojko, PhD, Pro Vice Chancellor for Studies and Students of SUM, who, together with, among others, Superintendent Roman Rabsztyn, Provincial Police Commander in Katowice and the Director of the Provincial Ambulance Service in Katowice, Łukasz Pach, presented the winning teams with cups and diplomas.
The provincial stage of the police lifeguard competition, which took place on May 8-9, 2023, was aimed at selecting a 2-person squad of Silesian police officers who will represent our garrison during the finals of the VIII National Police Lifeguard Qualified First Aid Competition. In addition to the "sporting rivalry", participants in the competition had the opportunity to take part in classes on taking action in life and health-threatening conditions.
Although in the competition it was important to score the highest number of points in the practical task, the participants also appreciated the workshop part.
