On April 24 at the Silesian Provincial Office in Katowice, Ministers Adam Niedzielski and Grzegorz Puda handed over promises for new investments worth a total of PLN 85 million 194 thousand to the directors of six Clinical Hospitals of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice. The funds, which come from the EU's REACT-E initiative, are intended to help the health care system recover from the COViD-19 pandemic. The money received will enable modernization and the purchase of needed equipment.

Equipment and modernization of the Department of General, Vascular and Transplant Surgery
The competition for supra-regional hospitals, oncology departments and diagnostic laboratories took place within the framework of REACT-EU, specifically the activity: Supporting health system repair and resilience. As many as 72 applications for more than PLN 1.1 billion were submitted. However, there was a little over PLN 520 million to distribute, of which PLN 105 million went to facilities in the Silesian province. In addition to the SUM Clinical Hospitals, financial support was also given to the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Institute of Oncology State Research Institute in Gliwice (PLN 19 million 806 thousand).
The handing over of the symbolic checks was also attended by Damian Czyzewski, MD, Prorector for Clinical Affairs of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice; Marcin Martyniak, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Health; Jarosław Wieczorek, Silesian Governor; Barbara Dziuk, MP for the Polish Parliament.
