On 31.01.2024, the Silesian Medical University in Katowice began implementation of four projects under the "Metropolitan Fund for Support of Science" Program:
- The project "Development of modern didactic methods through the creation of an interactive electronic platform and development of clinical scenarios of stroke and degenerative brain diseases on the basis of the Silesian population" will be implemented at the SUM Department of Neurology under the leadership of WNOZK Dean Anetta Lasek-Bal in the period from February to December 2024.
It assumes the development of software for retrieving patient data, creating clinical scenarios for neurological diseases, and a program for learning diagnosis and therapy. The goal is to create a web platform as a source of information on diseases in the Silesian population. The project is also expected to increase the attractiveness of didactic methods in the field of neurology. The main idea of the project is to create an electronic clinical database and an interactive platform for students.
The project "Development of modern didactic methods through the creation of an interactive electronic platform and the development of clinical scenarios of stroke and degenerative brain diseases on the basis of the Silesian population" has been subsidized by the Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolitan Region under the "Metropolitan Fund for Support of Science" Program in 2022-2024.
- The project entitled "Workshop on SPME technique for students of the Scientific Circle at the Department of Physical Pharmacy" will be carried out under the direction of Karolina Kulig, M.D., from February to December 2024 at the Department of Physical Pharmacy of SUM.
It assumes introducing students of the Scientific Circle to the world of the technique of microextraction to stationary phase (SPME) using methods of quantitative analysis. SPME, being an environmentally friendly and less costly technique, offers a novel approach to analytical research. Students will acquire the theoretical foundations of SPME, learning how to design experiments, analyze the results and use the apparatus independently in our laboratory.
The project "Workshops on SPME technique for students of the Scientific Circle at the Department of Physical Pharmacy" has been subsidized by the Upper Silesia and Zagłębie Metropolitan Area within the framework of the Program "Metropolitan Fund for Support of Science" in 2022-2024.
- The project titled "High School Student at the University" will be implemented from February to December 2024 under the leadership of WNF Dean Robert Wojtyczka. The coordinator of the project will be Ms. Dr. Joanna Wawszczyk.
We are pleased to present once again the "High School Student at the University" project, the aim of which is to encourage high school students to study the sciences offered by universities operating in the Upper Silesia-Zagłębów Metropolitan Area (GZM). The project focuses on pharmaceutical sciences, medical sciences, biological sciences, chemical sciences and biotechnology. It assumes not only to increase interest in specific fields of study, but also to make education practically oriented, showing students what fascinating opportunities a scientific education offers.
The "High School Student at the University" project has been subsidized by the Upper Silesia-Zagłębi Metropolis within the framework of the "Metropolitan Fund for Support of Science" program in 2022-2024.
- The project, titled "Summer School of the High School Student Vacation at FARMA 2024" will be implemented under the leadership of WNF Dean Robert Wojtyczka.
We invite you to take part in the next edition of the educational project, the aim of which is not only to arouse interest, but also to encourage high school students to choose studies in the sciences offered by our University.
Specially designed classes in July and August 2024 at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Sosnowiec will allow participants to explore the secrets of pharmacy, medical biotechnology, medical analytics and cosmetology. The project will not only satisfy the curiosity of young minds, but also aims to fill the space between teachers' theory and students' practical application of knowledge. In addition, we plan to build pro-health awareness by imparting practical knowledge of civilization diseases and molecular techniques in the diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases, including COVID-19.
The project "High School Summer School Vacation at FARMA 2024" was subsidized by the Upper Silesian and Zagłębie Metropolitan Area within the framework of the Program "Metropolitan Fund for Support of Science" in 2022-2024.
Congratulations to the Project Managers!
