After an absence of several years, the Festival of Cultures, organized by the English-speaking Student Government, returned to the Silesian Medical University in Katowice. The event was held at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice. As part of it, participants learned about the culture of six countries: India, Iran, Israel, Arab Countries, Pakistan and Poland.
The event began with an artistic part, in which SUM students and employees listened not only to musical pieces characteristic of the country, but also, among others, folk songs from the Podhale region or Arabic poetry. Participants also took part in dance workshops and an interactive quiz. The second part of the event took place in the Main Hall of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice, where several stands offered the opportunity to discover the flavors of Pakistani or Indian cuisine, among others. Another attraction was a workshop on skin painting with natural henna, or Mehendi.
In addition to a large group of students, the event was also attended by Prof. Dr. Jerzy Stojko, Vice-Rector for Studies and Students, Prof. Dr. Aneta Gawlik, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice, and Dr. Joanna Zembala-John of the Department of Environmental Medicine and Epidemiology at WNMZ.
