The first classes organised as part of the "Study at SUM!" project aimed at secondary school students from the Upper Silesia and Zagłębie Metropolis will begin on 11 September. The series of workshops will be an excellent opportunity not only to gain knowledge of various medical professions, but also to try one's hand at particular practical activities performed by medical personnel on a daily basis. Participants will be able to learn, among other things, how to make surgical sutures, auscultate the heart and lungs, insert peripheral punctures and collect material for laboratory tests. The project will also provide an opportunity to see what it is like to study at the Silesian Medical University in Katowice.

IMPORTANT: Registration takes place via the website: https://wsumiestudiuj.sum.edu.pl/harmonogram-zajec.  Registration is carried out only by the group leader (teacher). Groups of up to 25 participants can take part in the classes.

All classes will be conducted in an attractive workshop format, using anatomical models, phantoms and a variety of medical equipment such as ultrasound machines, ECGs, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, ophthalmoscopes, laryngoscopes and others. Multimedia screens and overhead projectors will also be used to make the activities as interesting and accessible as possible.

The workshops will be led by SUM students who will be supported by experienced lecturers and librarians from the University. The young age of the presenters is a great asset, which encourages participants to shorten the distance and ask many questions - often concerning not only studying itself, but also student life in Silesia.
