The project co-financed by the European Union from the funds of the European Social Fund under the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development "Integrated Programs of SUM Universities 2" (POWR.03 .05.00-00-Z077/18.), one of the main objectives of which was to raise the competences of the teaching staff in equipping students of the SUM Katowice University Health Risk Management course with knowledge and practical skills enabling them to assess health risks and programme health prevention for socio-economic needs, as well as to raise the information competences of the teaching staff in using electronic information sources, including medical databases, and in managing information obtained using the aforementioned databases.
The programme was implemented by the staff of the Department of Environmental Health of the Faculty of Public Health in Bytom and included the following tasks:
- A new computer laboratory equipped with modern IT equipment and specialised software was created,
- The educational content of the Health Risk Management I° and II° courses was modified to enable the use of specialised software,
- The competences of the teaching staff were improved in terms of self-presentation, use of English and operation of specialised software,
- Students of the Health Risk Management and Public Health faculties took part in training on self-presentation,
- Health Risk Management students developed health prevention programmes for the socio-economic environment,
and also took part in study visits to such local government units as the Bytom City Hall, Zbrosławice Municipality Office and Pilchowice Municipality Office.
