I am pleased to announce the ongoing call for the next edition of the Polish-American Fulbright Commission's Fulbright STEM Impact Award grant program, which is directed to active researchers representing STEM fields employed at Polish academic and scientific institutions.
Known as the largest U.S. scientific and cultural exchange program, the Fulbright Program fosters cooperation for the advancement of science, culture and people-to-people and inter-institutional relations between the United States and more than 160 countries.
The duration of the fellowship is from 2 to 6 weeks. During its duration, fellows carry out their own research and/or teaching projects at institutions in the United States and expand their knowledge of science commercialization and effective grant proposal writing. At the same time, it should be noted that the subject of the competition application must not be in an area requiring direct contact with patients.
The scholarship can be applied for by persons who:
- Are Polish citizens and do not hold dual Polish and U.S. citizenship or a U.S. permanent residence card (green card).
- Have at least a doctoral degree.
- Have at least three years of experience in managing research projects and supervising the work of other researchers (e.g., doctoral students, people with doctoral degrees, etc.) and are currently performing such duties.
- They are employees working in Poland: universities, federations of entities of the higher education and science system, the Polish Academy of Sciences and its scientific institutes, research institutes, international scientific institutes,
- Łukasiewicz Center and institutes operating as part of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences and other entities conducting mainly scientific activities on an independent and continuous basis.
- Are employed in one of the aforementioned institutions under an employment contract or a civil law contract.
- Have a very good command of English (at a minimum B2 level).
- They meet the formal requirements of the J Short-Term Scholar visa.
- Are not residing in the U.S. at the time of the scholarship application, and have a total residence in the U.S. in the last 6 years preceding the application with less than 5 years.
- Preference is given to those who have been in the US for less than 9 months in the last 5 years.

The call for applications for the Program lasts until May 26, 2023,and applications should be submitted entirely electronically by completing the application form, accompanied by the required documents indicated on the aforementioned website.
