Today, a letter of intent was signed – an agreement between Thracian University in Stara Zagora and the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, marking an important step towards strengthening international academic cooperation. Under the agreement, the universities guarantee scientific collaboration, cultural exchange, and joint research activities.
Both parties recognized the following areas of cooperation as priorities and feasible to implement:
Collaboration on joint research projects:
- Exchange of students and academic staff;
- Establishment of a network of contacts for sustainable cooperation between the universities;
- Mutual support in organizing seminars, conferences, and working groups;
- Exchange of scientific and academic publications, documents, and other information.
The letter of intent was signed on behalf of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice by the Vice-Rector for Studies and Students, Prof. Jerzy Stojko, M.D., Ph.D. The Thracian University in Stara Zagora was represented by Prof. Ruska Paskaleva, Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Occupational Therapy, Physical Medicine, and Sports, along with Prof. Galina Mratskova. The ceremony was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences in Katowice, Ms. Anna Brzęk, MD, Prof. of ŚUM, and the coordinator of the visit, Mr. Grzegorz Onik, MD, from the Department of Physical Medicine of the Department of Physiotherapy.
“We are pleased to establish cooperation between Thracian University in Stara Zagora and the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, looking forward to the implementation of numerous joint projects. We will strive to achieve the primary goal of the agreement, which is to promote international collaboration in research and education,” emphasized Prof. Jerzy Stojko.
“During our stay at the Medical University of Silesia, we had the opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the rich educational offerings and innovative research solutions of the university. We are impressed by the commitment of the academic staff and the infrastructure conducive to academic cooperation. We anticipate a successful partnership that will benefit both our students and researchers and lead to new and exciting projects,” added Prof. Ruska Paskaleva.
The representatives of Thracian University in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, have been visiting us since Wednesday, October 23, when the International Congress on the Quality of Education (ICEQ) began, with this year’s theme focusing on the internationalization of education. During the congress, there was a discussion panel on “European Values and Education in Higher Education Institutions” in which Prof. Galina Mratskova actively participated. In addition to attending the congress, the delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Faculty of Health Sciences in Katowice. The second day of ICEQ was special as the ladies attended the ceremonial inauguration of the congress, which provided an excellent opportunity to meet with the Rector of the Medical University of Silesia, Prof. Tomasz Szczepański.
