April 12-13, 2023 is the workshop of the International Working Group implementing the WP7 package of tasks in the Project entitled: Joint Action on the Implementation of Proven Best Practices (in the field of nutrition), acronym Best-ReMap, of which the Silesian Medical University in Katowice is a Partner since 2020.
The workshop is being held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, which is the Project Leader, and SUM is represented by the Coordinator for EU Cooperation on Public Health Programs of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice, Katarzyna Brukało, MD, from the Department of Public Health in Bytom, and Ilona Hajok, MD, Deputy Director of the SUM Technology Transfer Center. The meeting is aimed at reviewing and summarizing the practices and solutions developed so far between the involved member countries and their consultation with representatives of the European Commission and the Joint Research Center (JRC). This is expected to guide the development of food and nutrition policies in EU member countries and influence the design of Work Programs in upcoming European Commission-funded competitions.
The main objective of the Best-ReMaP Joint Action is to adapt, replicate and implement effective health interventions based on practices that have proven successful in the areas of food reformulation, food labeling, marketing and procurement, thereby contributing to increasing the range of healthy consumer choices. Joint Action (JA) aims to develop a harmonized European Union approach to promoting healthy dietary choices (individual as well as in collective feeding). Based on a prototype food catalog, a tool has been tested for the construction of clear and transparent guidelines necessary for the procurement process. Building on this work, JA will support the implementation, exchange and adaptation of Best-ReMaP results in national and EU policies.
