It was a unique and very exciting four days. Students of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice went to Międzybrodzo Zywieckie, where the SUM Student Government organized an integration and adaptation camp for them. The event was prepared mainly with first-year students in mind.

– I am glad that the idea to organize such an important event was born in our University. I would like to thank the representatives of the Student Government, who, meeting the needs and expectations of their youngest colleagues, organized Adapciak for the second time in a row. This is certainly a valuable initiative, which helps first-year students not only to find their way in the university's reality, while receiving a package of all the most important information, but also allows them to get to know their colleagues from older years. Within the walls of our University, students not only learn and receive the necessary education, but also establish friendships that often last for many long years –  said during the opening of the event, Prof. Jerzy Stojko, MD, Vice-Rector for Students and Student Affairs

Representatives of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, who also inaugurated the next edition of Adapciak, included:

  • Prof. dr. hab. n. med. and n.o zdr. Tomasz Francuz – Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice
  • Anna Brzęk, MD, PhD, SUM professor – Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences in Katowice
  • Urszula Sioma-Markowska, MD, PhD, Professor at SUM –Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences in Katowice
  • Andrzej Tomasik, MD, PhD – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze

– This year's edition of Adapciak was very successful.A total of 160 people went to Międzybrodzio Zywieckie. This is twice as many as last year. We are pleased with the opinions of many students who, after returning from the trip, spoke about it in superlatives – said Kamil Nikel, Chairman of the Student Government

–Those who participate in Adapciak definitely have an easier start. This is all because we provide our younger colleagues with information on, among other things, the structure of the University or the student organizations and study circles operating here.We also tell them where they can look for help if they need it, and tell them how to study effectively. This was also the case this time. Of course, there were also field games and lots of fun together. We hope that all of us, charged with positive energy, will have a good start to this academic year and our subsequent projects will remind us of these last days of summer vacation – said Patrycja Piłat of the SUM Student Council
