The fascinating lectures of Professor Michał Masternak from the University of Central Florida, who was a guest of SUM from 12 to 16 June, are behind us.
Professor Masternak has been active in scientific research for more than 20 years in topics related to the application of genetic research on ageing processes, and for more than 8 years has been conducting extended genetic research on head and neck cancer.
During the visit, Mr Professor gave two open lectures and held a series of one-to-one meetings and consultations with all those interested.
The visit provided an opportunity to learn about the latest research of the Professor and his team. We hope that the Professor's meetings will influence the establishment of scientific cooperation between Professor Masternak and our scientists.
The initiators and organisers of the visit were Prof. Maciej Misiołek and the head of this project, Prof. Wojciech Ścierski, from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Laryngological Oncology, Zabrze.
The project 'Short non-coding RNAs as biomarkers of cancer and ageing processes: significance in diagnosis and application in treatment' was supported by the Metropolitan GZM within the framework of the 'Metropolitan Science Support Fund' Programme 2022-2024.
In a telegraphic summary, we present the most important findings from the lectures.
