Join the ESOF2024 community and participate in one of the most important international conferences impacting the transformation of science and the world. The call for abstracts closes on December 31, 2023. Less than six months later, the event will be held at the International Congress Center in Katowice, Poland (June 12-15, 2024). Next year's ESOF will be the flagship event of the Silesian capital's title of European City of Science 2024.

This prestigious scientific conference is held every two years and provides a forum for interdisciplinary and cross-cutting debate on scientific culture, research and innovation. The slogan of the 11th edition, "Life Changes Science," captures the nature of the event - during ESOF2024, participants will talk not only about the latest developments in various fields of science and art, but also about the challenges that the world poses to the institution of the university. Speeches, discussions and debates will take place within six thematic areas:
• energy transition
Energy transformation means changing the way energy has been supplied and used to date. Its success, which is obvious from the perspective of residents of a post-industrial region, requires a balanced approach, both technological and social, based on dialogue for the development of common solutions.
• sustainable environment
Every human activity, especially those leading to the improvement of humanity's quality of life, exerts inevitable pressure on the environment.The ESOF conference provides an opportunity to look at the transformation of the ecosystem from different points of view, to understand, reflect and try to adapt or slow down the negative effects of human activity.
• cultural identity and social transformation
Art and design in combination with science can disenchant difficult topics, be an impetus to look further, analyze deeper and ask questions that are not always comfortable.They can initiate the process of transforming social stereotypes and make the sense of being "from here" fill one with pride.
• transformations within scientific excellence
The understanding of scientific excellence is constantly undergoing transformation. We want to analyze the latest trends and conditions for scientific excellence, look at key science policies, as well as the changes taking place in the world of modern science in an attempt to understand their causes and effects.
• healthy society
Innovative research in chronic disease prevention, strategies for promoting mental health, health education, epidemiological research, health needs assessment and the impact of environmental factors on health are the main topics of the conference sessions. Modern therapeutic techniques, physical activity as a way to improve mental health and the importance of environmental protection for public health will also be discussed.
• digital transformation
A networked world, increasingly saturated with digital sensors monitoring all areas of human functioning, is changing its face. The Internet of Things, combined with the implementation of machine learning methods and artificial intelligence models, is opening up a new range of universally accessible opportunities for scientific participation.
