Students can explore their interests by joining the Student Scientific Society which associates over 100 student members. Within the Student Scientific Society, the students can involve in educational activities and can participate in scientific events. Student Scientific Circles, which act within the STN, promote participation in scientific life of the University as well as represent students’ scientific movement in Poland and abroad at numerous conferences and symposia organized for SKN and young researchers. The end results of a whole year’s struggles are numerous students’ scientific publications in medical journals.
During the first and second degree studies students can leave for a partner university abroad or to have student practice in foreign institutions or companies within the Erasmus program. A student who wants to be involved in the Erasmus program selects the country to study or to have training. The Erasmus program is available for 27 countries of the European Union, 3 countries of the European Economic Area: Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and Turkey being a candidate country. Students with disabilities can participate in the Erasmus program on the same terms. There is also a program offering an active student’s participation in intensive courses (departmental projects). A student can also participate in activities conducted by foreign lecturers or professionals incoming to the University.
In addition, the Student Scientific Society organizes promotional campaigns and social health events. They are addressed to all age groups including children (within the framework of the University of the First Age), high school students (in the form of thematic workshops or theoretical and practical presentations) and seniors (within the framework of the University of the Third Age). Students’ creativity together with the experience and knowledge of the academic teachers result in innovative projects such as an event organized on annual bases “The night of researchers” (Sirena and Sirius), active open days, days of establishment. Apart from numerous organizational activities, a special place is occupied by events addressed to people with disabilities. Each year on Children’s day there is organized a sports and recreational event “Beyond the horizon”. The aim is, above all, to integrate children with disabilities with their peers, to popularize sport and to encourage parents to spend leisure time with children in an active way. Another yearly event “From another level” presents ways of removing barriers that face disabled people. The event meets with great interest of local population and social media.
